What is EmpowerEd Coaching and Consultancy?
EmpowerEd is a coaching and consultancy practice supporting mothers to navigate their child's education and advocate effectively for the support their child needs. Founded by Emily, a qualified primary school teacher with a background in special and inclusive education, and a trained coach working toward ICF accreditation, EmpowerEd offers digital resources, a small group program, and personalised 1:1 coaching. Everything is grounded in professional ethics and designed to help you feel clear, calm, and confident, whatever stage you're at.
-
What is your background and experience?
Emily is a qualified primary school teacher with experience across independent and public schools in Australia and internationally, including dedicated learning support roles working with children with diverse learning and behavioural needs. She holds a coaching degree and is working toward accreditation with the International Coaching Federation (ICF), practising within their ethical framework. She also brings her own experience as a mother, which means she understands the school system from the inside, and knows what it feels like to navigate it from the outside.
-
Where are you based, and do you work with clients outside Australia?
Emily is based in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales, Australia. All coaching and program sessions are delivered online, which means she works with mothers across Australia and internationally. The digital resources are also designed to be relevant to parents navigating school systems in Australia, the UK, the US, Canada, and beyond.
-
What does school advocacy actually mean?
School advocacy means knowing what your child is entitled to, understanding how to ask for it, and being able to communicate clearly and effectively with your child's school, even when conversations are difficult or emotionally charged. It doesn't mean fighting with schools or pushing harder. It means having the knowledge, language, and confidence to represent your child's needs in a way that gets heard.
-
Does my child need a formal diagnosis for me to access support?
No. You don't need a diagnosis to work with EmpowerEd in any capacity. Many parents come to Anchored Advocacy, the Clear, Calm and Confident program, or the digital resources while their child is still being assessed, or where a diagnosis doesn't yet reflect the full picture of what their child needs at school. Having the right support during the pre-diagnosis or assessment period can make a meaningful difference to what happens next.
-
Can you attend school meetings?
Emily works with clients online and can join school meetings virtually if needed, as a calm, informed presence supporting you to prepare, participate, and follow up with clarity. For parents who want support in this way, it's something to discuss on a Connection Call so you can work out together what would be most helpful for your situation.
-
What is the difference between Anchored Advocacy and the Clear, Calm and Confident program?
Clear, Calm and Confident is a small group program building your knowledge and confidence across four weekly sessions, developing skills you'll carry into every future school conversation. Anchored Advocacy is personalised 1:1 support for situations that are active, complex, or time-sensitive. Many parents find the program a strong foundation, with 1:1 coaching for the moments that need more individual attention.
-
What happens on a Connection Call?
A Connection Call is a free, 20-minute conversation with Emily. No pressure, no agenda, and no obligation. It's a chance to talk through what's happening for you and your child, ask any questions you have, and work out together whether and how EmpowerEd can help. You don't need to know which service you want, or even whether you're ready to commit to anything. It's simply a conversation.
-
Is coaching confidential?
Yes. Everything shared in 1:1 coaching sessions is confidential. Emily works within the ICF's professional ethical framework and does not share information about clients or their children with schools, other services, or third parties.
-
Which resource should I start with?
It depends on where you are right now. Upcoming meeting → Walk In Ready. Just received a psych report → Psych Report to Classroom Support. Need to write a school email → Write It Right. Questioning your child's learning plan → What Your Child's IEP Should Actually Say. Recovering from a hard meeting → After the Hard Meeting.
-
Are the resources relevant outside Australia?
Yes. While Emily's background is in the Australian school system, the resources are written to be useful to parents navigating school systems anywhere in the world. The feelings, the dynamics, and the need to advocate clearly and confidently don't change with the postcode.
-
How much does 1:1 coaching cost?
Packages for both Anchored Advocacy and Your Next Chapter start from $195 and are tailored to your specific needs. The best way to find out what's right for your situation is to book a free Connection Call. There's no obligation, and Emily will never push you toward a package that isn't the right fit.
-
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes. Payment plans are available for coaching packages. If cost is a consideration, please mention this on your Connection Call and Emily will do her best to find an arrangement that works for you.
-
What if I'm not sure which service is right for me?
You don't need to know before you reach out. A free Connection Call is specifically designed for this - it's a calm, no-pressure conversation to talk through what's happening and work out together what kind of support might help. You can book one here at any time, without any commitment.
